TomoeArts presents Kayoi Komachi/Komachi Visited, the world premiere of a new chamber opera that blends Japanese noh theatre and western classical music. Based on a traditional noh play about 9th century poet Ono-no-Komachi, the opera has been re-imagined to tell a contemporary story of a man and woman haunted by a passionate and troubled relationship.

The opera involves Japanese and Canadian singers and features a live orchestra of strings, flute, percussion and kotsuzumi (noh shoulder drum). Kayoi Komachi/Komachi Visited is about love, poetry, and the power of words.
