Topdog/Underdog

Written by Suzan-Lori Parks, starring Aadin Church and David Lloyd. Presented by Seven Tyrants Theatre.

Suzan-Lori Parks won the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for Topdog/Underdog, becoming the first African American woman to receive the prize. The story of Lincoln and Booth, two brothers whose names were given to them as a joke, foretells a lifetime of sibling rivalry. Lincoln is a former three-card monte hustler now working as an Abraham Lincoln impersonator in a rundown arcade; Booth is a shoplifter who wants his brother to return to street hustling. Haunted by the past, the brothers are forced to confront the shattering reality of their future. Topdog/Underdog features a jazz score designed by Daniel Deorksen and performed live by a three piece jazz orchestra.
